Birthday #7

I just completed this layout in time as Birthday #8 is next week....just a little behind eh?

Last year I made cupcakes for Aiden's 7th Birthday with Lightning McQueen decorations! He loved them!!!

I added a banner to my layout that I fussy cut from the Carta Bella - It's A Celebration paper. The twine was from my stash. I placed Basic Grey painted brads to hang the banner.

The stickers are from the same line. The heart clip is Paper Studio

I added some American Crafts ribbon around the photo.

The little party hat sticker called out for me to place it on Aiden's head....lol!!!

The background crackle effect paper is from Tapestry. I used my Sew Stamper to give the effect of stitching.

Here is the sketch from Let's Capture Our Memories Sketch #84 that I used for inspiration.

We are coming up to the last long weekend of the summer! Stay crafty!!!

Wild At Heart

Happy Sunday everyone!

I have a layout to share today from the Burford Agricultural Society Family Day. They had a motorcycle stunt group perform and because like most other days this summer, it was raining lightly so the track was wet. Both performers wiped out, so the show was cut short. The boys stood in line after to get an autograph...their first autograph signing. They were very excited. When they got their turn, the first thing Mason asked was....are you okay? It was so adorable!!!

And some closeups...

The title is chipboard piece from Fab Scraps that I painted first with Craftsmart Acrylic Paint (dark yellow) and then oversprayed with Mister Huey's Amarillo Taxi.

Products used - Papers & Stickers Bo Bunny - Lemonade Stand, Tiny Tackers by Tim Holtz, EK Tools - Fastenater large staples, MME Washi tape, wood veneer hand - Basic Grey - Hipster and button and paper clip from my stash.

I used the sketch from Sketch N Scrap Sketch #62 as inspiration...

I was also inspired by the Summer Challenge at S.W.A.T. Drill #38.

Stay scrappy and enjoy your overcast weekend!!!!

FAMILY - STUCK?! Sketches DT Reveal

Well it is the middle of August and time for another STUCK?! Sketch Design Team Reveal.

Here is my layout...

The photos in my layout were taken recently at my Mom's 86th Birthday party. All our children were home for the event, so it was a perfect time for a family photo. After 20 minutes of gathering everyone in one place, my neice snapped some shots. Although the photos are not perfect, it is hard to get everyone to look at the same time, hard to get the dog to face the right way....and to keep the characters from not put their fingers in silly places. The important part is that we were all together and we have these photos to cherish forever.

Here are some closeups....

I just love these little metal clips, the camera by Maya Road and the light bulb by The Paper Studio.

The wood veneer camera and photo frame are also Maya Road. The film strip and tiny tackers are from Tim Holtz.

Other products used are paper by Echo Park & WeR Memory Keeps, tags by Crate Paper and wood veneer title by Simple Stories.

And here is Laura's fabulous sketch. I choose to only use 4 photos rather than 5....so that no one was cut out of the photos....

Be sure to link up your layouts by Friday, August 29th for your chance at a fabulous prize from one of our sponsors.

Stay crafty!!!

Happy Friday everyone! Woo Hoo! It's the weekend!

I have a fun layout to share with you today...

Mason loves tractors...especially orange ones!

I stamped the background with a music note stamp. Around the edge of my background and on the edges of the light background paper, I used WeR Memory Keepers Sew Stamper faux stitches.
Here are some closeups

I used the August Sketch from Boys Rule Scrapbook Kits...

I was inspired by Catherine & Cathy Create CCC#040 - InstaLove (inspired by social media)

and to use button at The Studio Challenge on a layout

and the color challenge at Color Me Scrappy Challenge #67 and here is the challenge, I used the colours and I #LoveU2...

Say Cheese!

I have a different kind of a post to share today....it is a little bit of a step by step.

I was interested in joining in on a challenge at Exhaust Your Excess - EYE #4 I'd like to buy a Vowel. The challenge is to use up all those bits and pieces of different lettering. So I thought I would give it a try.

First I gathered up my lettering.....

Then I arranged them on my background paper for the layout I wanted to create....

Next I applied some craft paint...

In different layers. I applied a couple of coats of the beige with a foam brush to cover up the variety of colourful lettering.

Next I dabbed yellow, blue & green on randomly with a baby wipe.

I also added some Adirondak Brights - Alcohol Ink in Citrus & Sailboat Blue randomly.

Then I finished the rest of my layout once I had my background work completed.

This picture was taken after the boy's swimming lessons at the Wayne Gretzky Centre in Brantford, Ontario. Last fall these beautiful lifesize bronze statues were unveiled with the grand reopening of the renovated centre. Aren't they fabulous! Life size statues of Walter, Wayne (as a young boy) and Phylis Gretzky. What a fabulous memorial to Brantford's most famous family.

Here are some closeups of the details...

I used the August Week 1 Sketch from Let's Get Sketchy for inspiration.

I was also inspired by the challenge at Paper Issues which is called Mix Tape, and the challenge is to use a mix of different products.

Here is my product list:
Assorted Thickers lettering, Colorblok Alphabet Stickers, AC Cardstock, Authentique - Curiosity Collection, Adirondak Brights Alcohol Ink, Craft Smart Acrylic Paint, Basic Grey Library Pockets, Tickets from K & Company, Wood Cameras from Maya Road, Wood Veneer by Studio Calico, Buttons from MME and Stick Pin from Little Yellow Bicycle.

Check out these blogs to join in on the fun!
Stay craftly!
